Multiway
Example 3: Multiway Avenue or Boulevard
See Avenue Montaigne, Paris or Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn
Multiway Boulevards have lanes in the center for transit and through traffic, slower side lanes for local traffic, and on-street parking. The through lanes are separated from the side lanes by planted medians. The medians, side lanes, parking, sidewalks, and perhaps bicycle lanes combine to form a slow-speed, pedestrian-dominated realm on each side of the multiway boulevard, making it reasonable to face a wide, busy street with commercial storefronts or residential stoops. The effect is an address that is both prominent and green.
